Christian Church of Slidell Update:
View images from the Christian Church of Slidell
The Christian Church of Slidell is a beehive of activity. The church building
was flooded by three feet of water and most contents ruined.
The church building is getting back into shape. Crews have demucked it and taken
out all the damaged sheetrock, carpets, etc. The Cincinnati Christian Church in
Bloomfield, Indiana has donated sheetrock and a crew from Indiana and Kentucky
have worked this week installing new sheet rock and have reestablished air
conditioning and showers in the building. Our hope is to have teams set up at
the Slidell Church building and canvas their neighborhood. There is devastation
in the neighborhood south of the church building and volunteer crews could
really make a considerable impact for the Lord's work there and bring hope to
people who are currently devastated.
The Oaklandon crew and Bremington crew are rebuilding the stage, hanging doors, painting and pressure washing. The crew from Yorktown has distributed supplies to the neighborhood around the building. A crew from the Monterey Church of Christ (LA) will will texture the new sheet rock so it can be painted.
The Slidell Church has been meeting onsite. The first Sunday they met outside the building. The next week they met inside, but with no AC. Then they met with AC and now it looks and feels (and smells) terrific inside. The stage is being rebuilt, new doors are being hung, two new showers have been installed, utility sinks constructed, and the outside is being pressure washed. There were 61 in attendance Sunday: thirty-six local and some local visitors.
Centerville Christian Church in Indiana has donated a washer and dryer for the Slidell Church. Thanks Centerville!
Many others want to participate in restoring the building at Slidell. Please do so with gifts of your hard earned money and specific Prayers for the money to be spent bringing glory to God.
Much more work is yet to happen here so please remember The Christian church of Slidell after you send your precious offerings.
